Christmas cardI haven’t really given you anything for PPC, have I? Let’s sort that out right now.

This tool will help you do competitor keyword research for your Adwords or Bing Ads campaigns, but it’s not limited to that by any means. First off, you can search either by your competitor’s URL (or your own!) or by keywords. Search by URL and you’ll be able to see organic and paid keywords for which that URL is ranking (along with a graph showing number of keywords ranked over the last 12 months), as well as position and cost per click. The tool also shows you the text of your competitors’ ads (handy when planning your own) and will allow you to compare domains against each other for various metrics, plotted on a graph over time.

Search by keywords and you’ll get cost per click for your keyword, variations of it and related keywords, plus a list of who’s ranking for those keywords in organic and paid search. It’ll tell you how competitive the keyword is and the number of searches for it per month.

This is a truly excellent tool for researching keywords, planning campaigns and assessing the competition. As a free user you can only see a certain amount of data (up to 10 keywords per search and 10 queries per day) but that’s still a lot of very useful data free of charge. I use SEMrush daily and I just can’t recommend it enough.
